LATEST ARTICLE IN THE STAR
The most recent article in The Star about the project can be read online by CLICKING HERE. THERE IS ONE VERY IMPORTANT CORRECTION TO THE ARTICLE, HOWEVER. The formula for what percentage was recommended for each MSTU classification is incorrect. THE CORRECT RATIOS ARE: GULF-FRONT, 70%; GULF-INTERIOR, 25%; AND BAYSIDE, 5%. (The article has the percentages for gulf-interior and bayside reversed.) Please CLICK HERE to read the actual resolution as signed by Commissioner McLemore as Chairman of the Gulf County Board of Commissioners. (It is typical for it to take a few days to get the clerk's signature on a resolution. We will upload to our library the fully executed resolution when it becomes available.)
Additionally, however we wanted to point out that these recommended ratios of 70% for the gulf-front, 25% for gulf-interior, and 5% for bayside is the formula which will be applied to the remainder of the local cost share after the TDC bed tax funds are applied, which is also specifically stated in the resolution. This recommended formula of course is based on the passage of all three MSTU classifications.
A final point of clarification that may be helpful is that the figure of $12 million placed in the referendum language is the maximum amount to be considered for the bond. It is anticipated at this time the actual bond amount will fall well below this number. A much more complete and detailed explanation of the funding recommendations will be coming to you in the brochure, which we hope to have in the mail to all property owners on or about May 2nd (see below). We'll also get you more information on the referendum language
We do wish to thank The Star for their continued coverage of the beach restoration project!
IMPORTANT DATES FOR THE BEACH RESTORATION PROJECT

As the agendas are finalized, we will be getting more details out via eblasts, the Star, local radio, and Channel 3. Please plan to attend one or both of these meetings. You'll come away with a much fuller understanding of the project!

SATURDAY, JUNE 17TH, 10:00 A.M. EST

MSTU REFERENDUM VOTE DATE SET
At its regular meeting Tuesday night, the Board of County Commissioners approved the referendum language and the placing of the issue on the ballot for JUNE 27TH. The sole polling place will be the South Gulf County Volunteer Fire Station at 240 Cape San Blas Road. Absentee voting will be available, and we'll have more information on how to obtain an absentee ballot for you in the very near future.
ALSO PLEASE NOTE, THE SJPBAC MAY MEETING TIME WILL BE CHANGED TO 10:00 A.M. EST TO ACCOMODATE THE TOWN HALL LATER THAT AFTERNOON.
We apologize for the time interval between this and our last eblast to you. There has been a great deal of work going on, however, and we will bring you completely up to date in the next few weeks. Please feel free to email info@savethecape.com if you have any questions in the meantime. |
